Default Customer Program For City's Landlords Begins In December
In an effort to improve customer service options to our customers, Utility Billing is offering rental agencies, apartment complexes and landlords access to a program that will automatically default all City of Raleigh utility services to your account in between tenants. This service will provide landlords access to continuous utility services at all properties they identify for the Default Customer Program. This is especially important and helpful for showing, cleaning, or making repairs to the property in between tenants.
Effective December 1, landlords, rental property owners and real estate agencies will be charged $50 each time their property is placed back in their name in order to turn on utility services between tenants or a new tenant fails to set up service in their name and there is a usage on the meter – unless a Default Customer form has been submitted for the address. For more details and a copy of the Default Customer Form, visit: www.raleighnc.gov/forms/Finance/Utility_Billing_Services/DefaultCustomerProgramApplication.doc or call Utility Billing at 890-3245.
