Boutique Amphitheater For Downtown Entertainment Moving Forward
The Raleigh City Council on July 1 approved a design services contract amendment with Obrien Atkins Associates for a boutique amphitheater to be located adjacent to the Raleigh Convention Center.
O’Brien Atkins Associates is a part of the design team for the Raleigh Convention Center. The boutique amphitheater will be located on the block just west of the Raleigh Convention Center bounded by McDowell Street, Lenoir Street, Cabarrus Street and Dawson Street. The site currently is used for construction offices and equipment and material staging for construction of the Raleigh convention Center.
Obrien Atkins Associates will provide the additional services in conjunction with its existing Convention Center contract for the preliminary design and sub-grade investigation.
Concert promoter Live Nation will make available to the City of Raleigh a steel and fabric covered 5,000-seat boutique amphitheater.. The structure has been used in Boston and Denver.
