Stephanie Currier - Centralized Multi-Departmental Customer Service Center

The City of Raleigh is on its way to creating a centralized multi-departmental Customer Service Center.  The goal is to have a one-stop shop for plan intake as early as January of 2010. The center’s primary functions will include: plan intake, distribution and dissemination of general development-related information, inspection scheduling, development and permit fee collection and scheduling face-to-face meetings with development review staff.  The first step to making the new center a reality is the hiring of the Customer Service Center Manager, Stephanie Currier.

Stephanie is a graduate of East Carolina University where she studied Urban & Regional Planning with a concentration in societal issues and policies. While at ECU, Stephanie interned at Craven County, which upon graduation parleyed into a full-time planner position. Stephanie was heavily involved in the recovery efforts after Hurricane Floyd. It was here that she learned the framework of local government and how to get things done in a crisis situation. Stephanie’s background at Craven County included plan review, ordinance updates, and budget management. Craven County went through a reorganization of the Planning and Inspection departments a few years ago and Stephanie was promoted to Assistant Director of Planning and Inspections.  In the capacity of Assistant Director, Ms. Currier gained valuable experience, helping to streamline the permitting process, managing staff and helping to ensure customer satisfaction.

Stephanie Currier left Craven County when she and her husband decided to relocate to the Raleigh area. Stephanie’s first job at their new location was that of planner in Johnston County, where Stephanie worked as a zoning administrator and floodplain administrator.

In her new role as Customer Service Center Manager, Stephanie will get the opportunity to combine her experience in development with her love of customer service.  We are excited to add her to the Development Services staff.

Stephanie lives in Clayton with her husband Matt and their daughter Emily.
