Traffic Calming Efforts Approved For Mourning Dove Road
The Raleigh City Council on Tuesday agreed to move forward with a traffic calming project on Mourning Dove Road. The Council also agreed that a similar effort for Anderson Drive would be placed on hold.
Initially presented to the Council on Nov. 4, the City will install a series of medians and curb extensions along Mourning Dove Road to slow the traffic. Once installed, Eric Lamb, manager of the Transportation Services Division with the City of Raleigh, expects the average speeds of the traffic on the street to drop by three to eight miles per hour.
The proposal for traffic calming efforts for Anderson Drive was delayed indefinitely after some residents objected to the project. The Council agreed to postpone the effort in that neighborhood until the neighbors and the City of Raleigh can reach a consensus on what should be done.
