CPLI Accepting Applications For Fall Session

The Citizens’ Participation Leadership Institute (CPLI), a free program offered by the City of Raleigh Community Services Department in partnership with Shaw University, is now accepting applications for its fall session.

CPLI is a civic education initiative designed to strengthen individual and collective citizen leadership capacities, and develop skills important to creating more productive and effective interaction with agencies of City government.  In order to qualify for the program, applicants must be residents of the city of Raleigh and demonstrate some level of commitment toward neighborhood or community involvement, such as participation in area Citizens Advisory Councils, homeowners associations or neighborhood associations.

The fall session begins Sept. 18 and consists of nine classes held on Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Shaw University. Dinner will be provided at no cost. An awards banquet will be held at the end of the fall session.

To obtain more information about the Citizens’ Participation Leadership Institute, including an application, contact the City of Raleigh Community Services Department at 831-6100 or visit the City’s website at www.raleighnc.gov/communityservices.
