Winter Weather Emergency Policies
Snow days are rare in Raleigh, but when they happen, following a few simple guidelines will help safeguard you and your family.
Remember to:
-
Limit driving. Not only does winter weather make driving treacherous but clogged roadways make it extremely difficult for snow-removal crews and emergency personnel to do their jobs.
-
Use cellular phones sparingly and preferably, only in an emergency. The use of cellular telephone channels is critical for emergency personnel during an emergency.
-
Remember that the Raleigh-Wake County Emergency Communications Center is there for emergencies. Do not call 9-1-1 for information on closings or road conditions.
-
For the latest information on closings and road conditions, check your local media outlets. This website will have up-to-date information as well.
-
To report power outages or to ask questions about electrical service, please call Progress Energy at 508-5400.
-
For the latest information on Capital Area Transit routes, please call 485-RIDE (7433) or visit www.gotriangle.org.
