Featuring swings, slides, sand play area, and other play equipment. Visit the playground near a large open playing field, basketball court, volleyball court, picnic shelter, and restroom building.  This is the perfect spot to play with the entire family.  Play area is located a short walk from the north entrance’s parking lot.

Lower Lake

Lakes

Wet a line and let the scenery cast your cares away. Fishing on either the lower lake or more remote upper lake is allowed from our boathouse dock or the bank. N.C. Fish and Wildlife laws apply.  The park also offers canoe days in the warmer months.  Check the nature section of the Leisure Ledger  for more information.

Bird Garden

Wildlife Watching

A variety of habitats in the park provide wonderful wildlife viewing.  Visit the Bird Garden anytime of the year for guaranteed birding. We recommend July – September for a visit to the interpreted Butterfly Garden.  Waterfowl, turtles, and fish can be seen at both lakes.  Evidence of many mammals can be found along the creek banks and trails.
