Position Title: Utility Billing Field Technician

Minimum Requirements: At least 1 year of experience in public contact, preferably in utility service work or related field. High School Diploma or GED. Knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge of navigating city streets and proper water meter reading procedures within a reasonable time. Able to work efficiently and independently, have excellent time management skills, and follow oral and written instructions with little or no supervision.  Intermediate computer skills, with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and mobile computing. Prefer knowledge in PeopleSoft, and Oracle or SPL Customer Care and Billing systems. A Valid NC Class "C" Drivers License. May be required to work late evenings on weekdays.

Position Duties: Provides water and sewer service to customers in Raleigh and surrounding areas by connecting and disconnecting water meters for new service, final billings, emergency requests, delinquencies, and water meter readings for billing purposes. Completes service requests in a timely manner, meets with customers, fields questions from customers regarding billing service requests. Interprets city code in regard to water meters, crossed lines and meter tampering situations. Keeps accurate and orderly records, safely operates and properly maintains city vehicles.
