Our Values:
The Information Technology Department focuses on project management and customer service while maintaining our openness, honesty and integrity. We realize solutions are dependent upon our customer's specific needs.
Our Vision:
Lead by providing innovative, high quality and cost effective information technology solutions that position Raleigh as a best place to live, work and visit.
Department Goals/Information:
The IT department's goals include:
Technology should form a means of constant learning.
- All solutions should include feedback mechanisms, in order to measure how successfully the technology met the business objective.
- All solutions will be undertaken only after soliciting feedback from internal and external customers based on needs and preferences.
- All solutions will reflect innovative thinking, but rely heavily on proven technology.
- Technical training will be provided to both business staff and technical staff each year in order to be more proactive in pairing technology with business unit needs.
Citizens and Staff should have complete access to information.
- For all new technology solutions we will provide interactive services directly to the customer/citizenry where appropriate, and for all solutions we will consider those without access to computers.
- All solutions to provide services directly to customers shall be designed to make the information directly accessible to the customer without having to contact a staff person first or learn a complicated process or computer language.
Technology should make us more efficient.
All technology solutions will provide one or more of the following:
- New services at reasonable cost.
- Existing services quicker and/or cheaper to the taxpayer.
- Existing services to a greater number of people at the same time or reduced unit cost
- Eliminate the need for a prior service.
We should be able to see the measure of our work.
- All technology solutions will provide means to allow users and managers clear access to aggregate information to measure how well the solution achieves its goals.
- Workers and management will use information from technology solutions to make better-informed and more timely decisions.
