The Adventure Program

In 1984, the Adventure Program was born out of the city's Nature Program.  Over the years the goal has always been to provide instructional opportunities in a wide range of outdoor adventure activities.  Activities include kayaking, canoeing, mountain biking, climbing, backpacking, sailing, whitewater rafting, and many others. These activities are provided to youth and adults through year-round programs, summer camps, special events, trips, clinics, and customized programs.  We hope you find something of interest and join us for an adventure soon.

Program Information: Programs are scheduled on a yearly basis.  Click on a picture below to view more information about specific activities.  A complete list of program dates and fees can be viewed on the schedule and fees  page.  A copy of the Calendar of Adventures, a printed booklet of yearly offerings, can also be mailed upon request. Click here to download the 2008 Calendar of Adventures.  Learn more about our Mission, Benefits and Staff.

Program Purpose:

  • Provide instructional foundations in a wide range of adventure activities.
  • Focus on safety issues and manage risks in the most proactive manner.
  • Provide an opportunity for environmental appreciation and stewardship.
