The Housing/Environmental Inspections Division is committed to improving and maintaining the quality of life and environment for all City of Raleigh citizens.  This is achieved by enforcing the City's Housing Code; Health, Sanitation and Public Nuisance Code; Abandoned/Junk Vehicle Codes; and the Zoning Vehicle Code.

The City of Raleigh's Housing Code requires homeowners and landlords to maintain all residences (homes, apartments, townhouses, etc.), within the City limits, in a safe and clean condition regardless of when they were built.  Landlords may be required to obtain Probationary Rental Occupancy Permits, if there are multiple Code violations on their rental properties.

The City of Raleigh's Health, Sanitation and Public Nuisance Code  requires property owners to maintain their premises in a safe and sanitary condition. These violations include high weeds and grass, accumulation of trash or junk and junk automobiles, etc.

Our team of inspectors work with city residents to make them aware of City Codes and assist them in resolving existing Code violations.

You may view Code enforcement activities on specific property addresses by exploring our Public Access window.

Contact the Housing/Environmental Inspections Division by completing a Code Enforcement Request Form or by calling (919) 807-5110 to report any suspected Code violation.  With your help, we can ensure that the City of Raleigh continues to be a safe, more attractive place to live, work and play.
