Neighborhood Services
The Neighborhood Services Division houses many of the city’s programs designed to engage and empower citizens in the areas that enhance their quality of life. Neighborhood Services meets the needs of the City’s diverse citizenry by serving as a primary referral resource for human services, coordinating and facilitating citizen involvement, and improving community relations.
Community Specialists
Community specialists are staff members of the Community Services Department. They work to connect residents to services and programs that help keep their neighborhoods strong. The specialists are trained to help neighborhoods discover their strengths and assets and to mobilize people to take action on their own behalf. They assist residents as they form and maintain neighborhood-based organizations.
Community specialists also provide staff support for Citizens Advisory Councils (CACs). They attend CAC meetings and promote neighborhood participation in CACs.
The staff are responsible for coordinating and providing assistance to the following programs:
Citizens Advisory Councils (CACs),
Citizen Area Liaison Initiative
Fair Housing Hearing Board
Latin-American Services
Neighborhood Association Registry
Neighborhood Improvement Matching Grants
Citizens Leadership Academy
Neighborhood College
